Rural Institute for People’s Enlightenment (RIPE) organized the first dissemination event on “Antibiotic Resistance” (ABR) on 29th November 2019 at Mahila Praganam, Tirupathi, Chittor District. The entire event was proficiently led by President Mr N Muni Mohan and Prof Kalavathi Narakala, Community Coordinator. The target audience was Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers, who are health activist in the community and can, create awareness on health and its social determinants and mobilize the community towards local health planning. This informative session was aimed to sensitize audience on the issue of inappropriate use of antibiotics and important measures and strategies to combat the global crises.
The event began with a brief overview on ABR by Mr. Muni Mohan bringing all the participants on common platform. The next session was driven by Hon’ble Chief Guest, Dr. Janardhan Raju, Professor & Assistant Principal, S.V. Medical College who gave a detailed insight of the need and importance of the sensitisation programs. Another renowned personality, Dr. K. Bala Krishna Moorthy, Secretary graced the occasion with his presence – PASS, and put emphasis on the role of community in decreasing the antibiotics usage. Dr. Ambedkar Medical Officer, RMO, Tirupathi and Mrs. A. Visharadha , Staff Nurse & Mrs. M. Rajeswari, M.A. Health Educator also laid The speakers addressed various doubts raised by the audience and also encouraged them to avoid inappropriate antibiotics use. The session was well received by the participants.
