The Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT), a partner non-governmental organization (NGO) of Prevent IT Project hosted an awareness event titled ‘One Health and Antibiotic Resistance’ on 12th May 2022 at the campus of Tripura University, Tripura. The target audience was students from the Philosophy, Commerce, and Social exclusion and inclusive policies background totaling up to 250 in number. The key agenda of the workshop focused on One health and Antibiotic resistance. Keeping in mind the background of the students, the lectures were delivered in layman’s language. An attempt was made to make them as interactive as possible through discussions with students.
The event began with lamp lighting by the respected Registrar, Dean of Social Sciences, and PREVENT IT team members. The session was followed by Ms. Priti Panwar and Dr. Kiranjeet Kaur who explained the basics of antibiotic resistance and its spread in humans, animals, and the environment. Following this, Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sathpathy and Dr. Himanshu Shekhar Pradhan explained to the students about the One Health Approach and the idea on the show to stop ABR including Global and National action plans. Finally, the session was continued by a group discussion on preventive measures for antibiotic resistance by Dr.Fathima and Ms.Fabia. The students showed interest in the topic and promised to spread and share the same information in society. The session was concluded by closing remarks from Dr. Rajesh Chaterjee.
