The first dissemination workshop on “Risk Management and Prevention of Antibiotics Resistance through one health approach” was organized by Voluntary Health Association of Tripura on 30th Nov, 2019. The event is being organized as one of dissemination activity for the PREVENT IT project, co-funded by Erasmus plus. Approximately, 200 people gathered including 50 students (pharmacy and nursing) and remaining self-help group (SHG) workers. The event so organized was also the reflection of World Antibiotic Awareness Week, which is celebrated all over the globe in the month of November from 14-24. The target audience gained knowledge on how one health approach can help to combat antibiotic resistance (ABR). The event began with lamp lighting ceremony by honourable Ms. Antara Deb, Sabhadhipati, Paschim Tripura Zila Parishad along with other dignitaries. The first session was addressed by Dr. Sanjib Kumar Ghosh, Director of Medical Education In-charge and Dr. Deepa Kumar Debbarma, OSD both from Department of Health & family welfare.
One of the experts gave an overview on the need and importance of rational use of antibiotics for human healthcare followed by another talk giving an insight of the consequences of inappropriate use of antibiotics in animals. The audience were also enlightened about the issues and challenges faced in Agri and Horti sectors. One session was totally focused on creating the awareness on the goals and outcomes of the PREVENT IT project. An effort was made to keep all the sessions interactive and discussion session was chaired by Dr. Dilip Kumar Ray, Ex-Professor, Medical College.
