The global problem of anti microbial resistance (AMR) is seen across human and animal population. One of the major driving factor for the AMR is the increased antibiotic consumption for treatment of diseases as well as for growth promotion.  The key action to address this issue is to raise the awareness. In this paper, the authors are presenting the AMR awareness and practice among the human and animal healthcare professionals. It was interesting to note that awareness on AMR was high across the study sites. They were also aware about the drivers of AMR. But this knowledge was not practiced due to lack of resources to adequately address AMR in daily practice. The article questions the most common ‘assumption’ prevalent today that is ‘Injudicious antibiotic practices of health care professionals are due to low levels of AMR awareness and poor knowledge of optimal use of antimicrobials’.
