A three-day micro- teaching activity was organized by Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH), Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, from 9th to 11th of August, 2022. One of the objectives of the PREVENT IT project is to promote teaching mobility of European faculty to India to implement the courses on Antibiotic Resistance. In this regards, Ms. Olga Gershuni, who is a Research Scholar at Maastricht University, The Netherlands and also Lecturer at Fontys University of Applied Sciences was present in the Manipal campus. The target audience included PhD research scholars from microbiology, virology, global health and other departments, Master’s students of public health.
The activities began with general interaction with PhD scholars and group of them were interested to learn about the impact of migration on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The session also included sharing of Ms. Olga’s experience on the topic. Also, there was an interesting discussion on the PhD thesis topics and methodologies used in it. Further there was interaction with public health students and topic of choice was One Health approach to combat AMR. Then the session was with another bunch of PhD scholars, they learnt about different teaching methodologies specially experienced problem- based learning. The scholars involved and discussed on the given article and learned the steps involved in this unique teaching methodology.
This teaching mobility helped students to understand the issue of AMR and know the solutions and methods to implement. Apart from that it also helped the research scholars to explore the new teaching methodology and they assured to inculcate it in their teaching process.
