Screening of awareness videos on ABR in Amrita Hospital
Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham launched ABR awareness campaign in Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences
hospital on 19 September 2022. The PREVENT IT awareness campaign has been launched to inform
Indian society about the ABR causes and the possible solutions that everyone can implement to mitigate
the adverse impact of antibiotic resistance. The PREVENT IT campaign aims to tackle the contemporary
lack of societal awareness regarding the negative societal and economic consequences that the world
will face if no concrete actions will be taken.
Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham University coordinated the creation of five animation videos designed to
increase awareness among the general community. The animation videos were of less than 1-minute
duration and contained messages on avoiding misuse of antibiotics, completion of stipulated course as
suggested by medical practitioner, avoiding unnecessary antibiotic usage in animal feeds. The videos are
displayed at the TV screens of all the Out Patient lounges and patient waiting areas of all clinical
departments of the hospital. Patients and hospital staff get chance to see the messages frequently so
that an impression on ABR prevention is made in their minds strongly.
